The ending was not what I expected but it was sheer perfection. I felt so much pain for all of the main characters. It went where I never thought it would go. Well done.ĭark Desires by JoAnne Joseph blew my mind. The story is well written, full of colorful characters, especially the bad guys, and action packed. I am so stoked that Liam has a story (FINALLY). I want more.įorbidden Love by Elizabeth Knox was a welcome suprise to me as I am familiar with her work. Willink knows how to write a story that you can't put down, but are almost afraid to keep reading out of fear of what she's putting her characters through next. I cried, I screamed, I feared for this character. Gia's character went through so much in this story (none of which I will share because - SPOILERS). The Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink was amazing. I was riveted to this story and drooling for more when it ended. What happens when the objective becomes the obsession? This story was full of dark triggers and seriously despicable actions by some of the characters. Jake Cavanaugh is a man with a past and is hired to collect and silence Ms. Immersed in a world of the Bratva, Rose inadvertantly is witness to a dirty secret of her boss and flees. Insidious Love by Crimson Syn is my first exposure to the deviantly delicious story telling of Crimson Syn. I really enjoyed this story and wanted more when it ended. The story develops from there and is full of intrigue, action and some really repugnant yet impossible to not like bad mafia types. At the end of her rope, once faced with a life changing event, Kristine relocates across the country for an almost too good to be true job. Kristine's story is full of secrets, lies, betrayal and mafia connections. Marked by Cayce Poponea kicks of the anthology with a bang. I'll put a short description of my thoughts on each story below: I was exposed to new authors in this compilation - several of which are now added to my instant to be read list. Love, loss, rebirth - these words came to my mind often as I read these stories.

All of them include dark elements (trigger warning) that drew me in, kept me on edge, made me angry, fearful and blew my freaking mind. This compilation of stories blew my mind.
